Three Dead After Devastating Accident in Lower Saxony

Three people were killed in a serious traffic accident on the L 282 in Lower Saxony, between Lachtehausen and Lachendorf, on Monday morning, according to the Celle Police Station. Initial investigations reveal that, around 11:10 AM, a 44-year-old female driver veered into the opposite lane due to unknown circumstances. A truck driver traveling in the opposing direction was unable to prevent a head-on collision, despite attempting evasive maneuvers. The woman and her two 18-year-old passengers died at the scene from their severe injuries. The 50-year-old truck driver sustained minor injuries. Firefighters responded with numerous personnel. The L 282 was completely closed for recovery work between Lachtehausen and the Celler Straße/Garßener Straße roundabout, causing traffic diversions, and the closure remained in effect throughout the afternoon. The estimated property damage amounts to approximately 55,000 euros, and the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
