SPD Sees Coalition Back on Track After Committee Talks

Following the Coalition Committee meeting, SPD Parliamentary Chief of Staff Dirk Wiese believes that the alliance between the Union and the SPD has returned to a positive trajectory. According to Wiese, the parties “have regained momentum”.

He emphasized that the focus must now be on maintaining this renewed working rhythm and achieving political results before the summer. Wiese stated that the meeting of the Coalition Committee was exceptionally important, as it allowed the leaders to devise paths toward urgent solutions for the country through joint and trusting cooperation.

Specifically, Wiese explained that the outcome included setting timelines for critical modernization projects and agreeing to a dialogue with social partners, a step necessary to secure broad approval for the planned reforms.
