In a separate development, Trump announced that, beginning 1 February, a tariff of 10 percent would be imposed on goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland. The levy would rise to 25 percent on 1 June. European Union officials are currently exploring ways to avoid or mitigate these sanctions.
