Following the CDU party conference’s decision to prohibit social‑media use for children under 14, the SPD is pushing for a quick resolution on the matter in the Bundestag. Dirk Wiese, the SPD parliamentary group’s first parliamentary bureau chief, told “Bild am Sonntag” that the Union now supports a ban for those under 14, a move he explicitly welcomed. He argues that the ban would better safeguard children and adolescents in the digital realm and calls for the German Bundestag to enact a clear law on the issue without delay.
