SPD commits to governing coalition happily anticipating three more years

The SPD leadership reiterated its firm commitment to the governing coalition during a Bundestags meeting. Matthias Miersch, the SPD Group Leader, spoke before the session, observing that “things are slowly emerging locally”. He expressed optimism about the future, stating that the party feels “very confident” regarding the coming three years.

Joining him, SPD Party Boss and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil also underlined the intention to continue working within the current coalition framework. According to Klingbeil, the shared path forward remains unchanged. He emphasized that the SPD is committed to ensuring the coalition’s success, ready to make compromises “every day” to achieve this. While Klingbeil admitted that public trust in politics has recently decreased, he stated that the party plans to counteract this decline by focusing intensely on necessary reforms.

It is noted that the current administration is facing historically poor poll results. Experts suggest that if a new election were called, the CDU/CSU and the SPD alone would likely not secure a sufficient majority.
