Jim Hagemann Snabe and Nathalie von Siemens have lent their support to Mark Schneider’s nomination for the crucial role of Chief Controller at Siemens. Snabe told the “Handelsblatt” that Schneider is the ideal choice, expressing full confidence in his ability to succeed. Sources indicated that Schneider, a former CEO of Nestlé, has familiarized himself well with the company and its culture, having been an associate board member for nearly two years.
The official confirmation of Schneider’s appointment-a major position in German industry following the general meeting in early 2027-was scheduled for a board meeting on Tuesday. While acknowledging that Schneider does not provide the deep technology expertise that Snabe embodies, the former SAP co-CEO stated that this knowledge will henceforth be handled by other board members. Instead, Schneider is viewed as a conductor of transformation rather than a technology specialist.
Earlier reports suggested that the founding family, which still holds about six percent of the shares, might harbor doubts about Schneider. However, Nathalie von Siemens, who currently represents the family on the board, told the “Handelsblatt” that the extensive Siemens family has complete trust in the company’s processes and the selected executives, particularly naming Mark Schneider.
Other leadership changes were announced as well. Nathalie von Siemens will leave the board following the next annual general meeting after twelve years of service for reasons related to good corporate governance. Her successor will be family member Christoph von Seidel. Furthermore, Ola Rollén, Chairman and former CEO of the Swedish technology company Hexagon, is expected to introduce technological expertise to the board. Marion Helmes will serve as the third new board member.
