At the 19th round of the 2. Bundesliga, FC Schalke 04 managed a last‑minute draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. In the 90th minute, Kenan Karaman equalised for Schalke, after Edin Džeko, on his debut, had hit the decisive winner in the 87th minute. Kaiserslautern had taken the lead through Ivan Prtajin with a header in the 61st minute and extended it in the 84th minute. Before the match, coach Miron Muslić announced that Džeko would start the game on the bench and be brought on later.
In the same round, SC Paderborn 07 beat Preußen Münster 2-1. Münster opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a headed goal from Etienne Amenyido after Jano ter Horst delivered an unchallenged cross. Paderborn levelled in the 50th minute when Steffen Tigges headed in a cross from Curda, and Tigges eventually sealed the win. Münster played with nine men from the 28th minute after Yassine Bouchama received a red card for a serious foul.
Another 2. Bundesliga fixture ended 1-1 between SV Elversberg and VfL Bochum. Bochum took the lead in the 24th minute when Mats Pannewig finished a cross from Morgalla. Elversberg replied with a goal from Lukas Petkov in the 53rd minute after a Mickelson cross. Both teams created additional chances but failed to add anything else to the scoreboard.
