The board of software manufacturer SAP appears to be undergoing another reshuffle. According to the “Handelsblatt” Tuesday issue, Thomas Saueressig, who heads customer service, is set to add responsibility for sales to his portfolio. The claim comes from several insiders; the company itself has not commented.
Saueressig joined SAP’s board in 2019. He first led product development as an IT economist. In 2024 he took over “Customer Services & Delivery”, a unit that was spun out of the sales organization and is responsible for the rollout and use of cloud solutions in enterprises. Now he will oversee all customer‑facing activities.
The move is reportedly intended to relieve board chief Christian Klein. Since the departure of former sales chief Scott Russell in the summer of 2024, Klein has been accountable for sales at the top‑management level, while the day‑to‑day operations are handled by Manos Raptopoulos and Jan Gilg. Until now, SAP had not maintained a distinct board division for sales.
