Authorities have cleared the Reichstag building after a gas alarm triggered a fire‑brigade response. The alarm sounded at 5:15 a.m. when trace amounts of gas were detected, prompting 80 firefighters and several vehicles to arrive and inspect the situation. A spokesperson for the fire service told the “Bild” that, because no confirmation of danger could be made, the crew withdrew after about a quarter of an hour. By just before 8 a.m. officials declared the situation under control. The cause of the alarm was initially unclear, but the fire service suggested that a highly concentrated cleaning agent could have been responsible.
