RB Leipzig secured a 2-1 win over Hamburger SV at the end of matchday 24 in the Bundesliga.
The game began with an early goal for Hamburg. German striker Fabio Vieira seized the moment after a mistake by Leipzig’s Lukeba, firing the ball past goalkeeper Lars Vandevoort and into the net. Leipzig, however, refused to be rattled and equalised in the 36th minute when Romulo headed home a cross from Lukeba, assisted by a header from Baku.
In the second half, Leipzig turned the match around. After Hamburg lost the ball during a build‑up, Romulo set up Yan Diomande, who scored from close range for the decisive goal in the 50th minute. Hamburg had further chances to pull level, but Leipzig’s defence held firm and kept the scoreline.
Despite a penalty saved by Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes against Romulo, the home side couldn’t avoid defeat. The victory gives Leipzig valuable points in their chase for European competition, while Hamburg must regroup and look ahead.
