On the opening day of the 27th Bundesliga matchweek, RB Leipzig defeated TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 5-0, leaving the visitors with no chance by half‑time.
Brajan Gruda sparked the rout, scoring in the 17th minute after a rebound off keeper Oliver Baumann. Four minutes later, Christoph Baumgartner added a header from a David Raum cross to make it 2-0. Nine minutes after that, Baumgartner struck again, this time curling a left‑footed shot from a Gruda assist in the 30th minute.
Just before the break, Gruda doubled his tally. Following a double pass with Yan Diomande, he sent the ball flat to the second post and finished himself in the 44th minute. In the second half, Benjamin Henrichs sealed the scoreline with a goal in the 78th minute, shortly after coming on as a substitute.
Hoffenheim struggled to find any effective response against Leipzig’s dominant play. The home side were defensively solid and exploited their chances with clinical precision, while the visitors could only keep pace in the early stages before Leipzig took full control.
The result has pushed Leipzig up to third place, while Hoffenheim drops to fifth. Both teams, however, now sit level on points, separated by only a three‑goal difference.
