Pilots Back Off Strike Plans as Global Political Tensions Rise, Cockpit Union Cites International Concerns

During this week the Cockpit pilot union (VC) has chosen not to carry out any work‑stop actions. “Given the current tense global political climate and the uncertainties that come with it, the VC feels a special responsibility to maintain the stability and reliability of the air‑traffic system” the union stated in a Monday release.

The VC singled out the conflict that escalated over the weekend in the Middle East. The unfolding geopolitical situation has presented significant challenges for airlines, crews and passengers alike. “At present, the highest priority lies with return flights, passenger safety and sustaining supply through air cargo” the union added.

The wage dispute remains ongoing, the VC clarified. “We are monitoring the situation and continuously reassessing it”.
