SC Paderborn completed the 23rd round of the 2. Bundesliga with a 5‑2 win over Hertha BSC.
The Paderborn side took an early lead, dominating the first half to finish with a 3‑1 advantage. Sebastian Klaas opened the scoring in the 7th minute, followed by goals from Tjark Scheller at 20 minutes and Nick Bätzner just before half‑time. Hertha managed to cut the deficit to 3‑2 through Luca Schüller in the 39th minute, but the hosts stayed in control.
In the second half Paderborn continued to press an attacking strategy, adding two further goals: Mika Baur converted a penalty at 65 minutes, and Raphael Obermair scored at 68 minutes. Hertha’s Josip Brekalo added a consolation goal shortly after, but the gap was already too wide for the home team to overturn.
With the victory Paderborn climbed to fourth place in the league, while Hertha dropped to seventh. Paderborn’s next match is scheduled for Saturday against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, whereas Hertha will face Nuremberg the following day.
Parallel fixtures on Sunday afternoon ended with Preußen Münster 2-3 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hannover 96 0-0 Dynamo Dresden.
