During the ZDF “Heute Journal” the new Baden-Württemberg Minister-President and Green Party member, Cem Özdemir, announced that he intends for his Green-Black coalition to distance itself from Berlin. Speaking about his mandate, Özdemir stated that they plan to resolve issues internally first, and only present a unified front to the public once they are completely aligned.
The Minister-President emphasized that the current moment offered a unique opportunity to demonstrate that Democrats are capable of solving problems. He asserted that they could interact with respect and grant each other the benefit of the doubt, a behavior he claimed was currently absent in Berlin.
Additionally, Özdemir addressed the financial caution guiding the coalition’s projects. He stated, “We differ from Berlin in this regard. We cannot accumulate debt like world champions”.
