During protests at the U.S. consulate in Karachi, the Pakistani port city, several people were killed. Pakistani media reports state that at least eight people died and 18 were injured.
Hundreds of demonstrators are said to have attempted to storm the consulate, resulting in clashes with police. Those affected were reportedly injured by gunfire, baton strikes, and a wave of mass panic.
The violence erupted after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran and, according to reports, killed the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The news sparked significant tension in the region and triggered the demonstrations in Karachi. Local police later announced that the protesters were dispersed and the situation had been brought under control.
