Merz Invites Social Partners to Coalition Committee Talks

According to the “Industrie und Handel” newsletter from “Politico” coalition sources report that the leaders of the Union and the SPD have agreed to invite both employers and employees to the upcoming coalition committee meeting at the start of June.

Furthermore, another meeting is planned to take place before the summer recess. The purpose of this session is to approve a package of reforms covering various key issues, including income taxes, the labor market, pension benefits, and measures to streamline bureaucracy.

Separately, the coalition views the planned €1,000 “relief bonus” as having failed, and this specific measure will not be pursued by the Union-SPD bloc. This position follows the Bundesrat’s rejection of the bonus last Friday.
