The first Sunday match of the 27th Bundesliga round finished with a 2-1 victory for 1. FSV Mainz 05 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Mainz started strongly, taking the lead in the sixth minute when Paul Nebel finished off a diagonal pass from Sheraldo Becker for a right‑footed shot into the left corner of the net. Frankfurt answered in the 20th minute when Nathaniel Brown, on a cross from Jean‑Matteo Bahoya, headed the ball home, bringing the score level as the half‑time whistle blew.
The second half was tense, with both sides creating chances, but it was Mainz who proved more effective. In the 89th minute Nebel again found the net, this time sealing a crucial third goal for the league survivors. As a result, Frankfurt remains in seventh place, while Mainz climb to 11th in the standings.
Following the international break, Mainz will meet TSG Hoffenheim on 4 April, and Frankfurt will take on Köln the following day.
