Lufthansa Cockpit Crew To Strike Monday And Tuesday

The Cockpit Union has called for a strike targeting the flight crew of the Lufthansa Group. According to the union on Saturday, the strike will affect Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Lufthansa Cargo AG, Lufthansa CityLine GmbH, and Eurowings GmbH. The action is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026, at 12:01 AM and conclude on April 14, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Flights to the Near East have been excluded from the planned strike.

The Cockpit Union stated that the strike is necessary because the employers have demonstrated no willingness to resolve several collective bargaining disputes. Despite the union foregoing strike action over the Easter holidays, no substantive offers have been presented. Significant disagreements remain, particularly concerning company pension provisions and wage agreements.

Andreas Pinheiro, President of the Cockpit Union, maintained that the union remains open to dialogue. He suggested that the employers could prevent the strike at any time by submitting negotiable offers. Pinheiro concluded by emphasizing that a strike is always the last resort to inject momentum into failed negotiations.
