Lufthansa Cabin Crew Strike Grips Airline After Pilot Walkout

Following a two-day pilot strike, cabin crew members at Lufthansa also began a two-day strike. According to the flight attendants’ union, UFO, these work stoppages are scheduled to last until 11:59 PM on Thursday. All departures from Deutsche Lufthansa AG at Frankfurt and Munich airports are affected, as well as all departures from the Lufthansa subsidiary Cityline at Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne, and Stuttgart.

The underlying cause of this strike is the stalled negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement. The union believes that the employer side is not moving sufficiently. A key part of the labor actions includes a rally in Frankfurt on Wednesday, organized in connection with the 100th anniversary celebration of Lufthansa.

Furthermore, the German pilots’ association announced that there will be another strike on Thursday and Friday. This action will affect Deutsche Lufthansa and its associated companies, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cityline, and Eurowings, though Eurowings will only be struck on Thursday. Flights destined for the Middle East are excluded from the strike.
