The Women’s Union in Lower Germany has expressed alarm over an alleged deep‑fake incident involving a member of the CDU caucus in the state parliament and has called for stronger protection for victims. “For me it is clear: zero tolerance and full investigation. We must support the woman who has been affected” said state chair Mareike Wulf to the news magazine Focus.
Wulf added that, as the Women’s Union, the party will discuss with the CDU in Lower Germany how to adjust and significantly improve its protective measures. “We need clear reporting channels, consistent procedures, and genuine protection for those affected” she said.
The chair also warned that the accusations serve as a wake‑up call. “Deepfakes intensify violence against women. They are too often an attack on women’s dignity – one that we must name clearly and tackle decisively” she said. Wulf called for deepfakes to be incorporated into the criminal code.
