Laschet Says No Grudge Over Söder's Aschermittwoch Joke About Pistorius

Former CDU leader and former chancellor candidate Armin Laschet says he holds no ill‑will over the Ash Wednesday joke made by CSU leader Markus Söder about his resemblance to Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Saturday, Laschet said that he and Söder have always liked to poke fun at each other. After meeting together in the Bavarian State Chancellery, they even took a selfie and posted a tweet highlighting the mix‑up with Pistorius. Laschet found it refreshing that people can laugh at themselves. Söder had joked during a speech in Passau: “I talked with Armin for a while. He was in the State Chancellery. We laughed, we spoke. Unfortunately I only realized at the end that it was Boris Pistorius”.
