JP Morgan Eyes 2026 as Global Megadeals Year After EA and Warner Bros Splash

JP Morgan’s Global Banking co‑head, Filippo Gori, told the “Handelsblatt” that a wave of large acquisitions is on its way worldwide.

He pointed to the $55 billion sale of video‑game developer Electronic Arts and to Netflix’s $72 billion takeover of Warner Bros. as examples of the big deals that are reappearing after a long lull. Gori says the momentum will keep building and that 2026 will become “the year of megadeals”. He added that the bank’s acquisition pipeline is fuller than ever before.

According to Gori, several factors are fueling this renewed interest. First, the financing conditions for both companies and investment funds are more favorable than they have been in a long time. Second, the stable interest‑rate environment across Europe and the United States gives companies a level of plan‑making certainty. Third, many businesses worldwide have grown accustomed to the uncertain geopolitical climate and now see acquisitions as a viable growth strategy rather than a risk.

In the United States, Gori expects additional purchases driven by President Donald Trump’s pro‑business agenda. He argues that the government’s economic reforms are encouraging firms to consider deals that were previously ruled out. Likewise, he foresees a surge in European consolidations, noting that larger corporations are needed for the continent to remain competitive in sectors such as technology, defence, and infrastructure on the global stage.
