Israeli Ambassador Warns of Iran-Backed Sleeper Cell Terror Attacks in Europe

Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor warned that Iran plans terror attacks in Europe through so‑called sleeper cells. “The mullahs keep showing that they intend to spread terror across the world” he told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND).

He said Israel has paid a high price for having long downplayed the “deadly ideology”. “Europe should learn from this. This ideology is not only a danger to Jews-those who set fire to synagogues today may set churches ablaze tomorrow” Prosor added. He stressed that terror attacks are very possible, especially “through sleeper cells operating in Europe”.

Prosor defended the U.S.-Israel campaign against Iran and expressed suspicion about Europe’s prior lack of involvement. “We rarely disclose our military intentions. Only under strict secrecy could the strike that decapitated Iranian leadership succeed” he argued. He noted that for 47 years Europe had let Iran slide, always finding excuses to refrain from action. “We had no luxury: we had to eliminate the nuclear threat”. He also warned that Iran now possesses rockets and drones capable of reaching Europe.

Finally, Prosor denied Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s push for annexing southern Lebanon, stating that such a move was not the government’s wish. “We will advance as far as needed and remain there until the attacks on Israel cease and our citizens are safe. A permanent occupation is not planned. Period”.
