Iran Limits Attacks on Neighbors and Promises No Further Rockets Unless Attacked by Them

The Iranian president, Massud Peseschkian, announced that Iran will curb its attacks on neighboring states. During a Saturday address on Iranian state television, he said that no further strikes or rocket launches would occur against neighboring countries unless one of those states first initiates an attack on Iran.

Peseschkian also issued an apology to the nations that have been targeted by Iran. Since the beginning of hostilities with Israel and the United States, Iranian operations within Gulf countries have claimed 13 lives, including an 11‑year‑old girl in Kuwait. When speaking on Israel and the United States, he adopted a combative tone, stating that “the enemies must take the wish for the capitulation of the Iranian people with them to their graves”.

He urged Gulf states not to become “the plaything of imperialism” and warned them against targeting Iranian territory. Whether this announcement will take effect immediately remains unclear; after his speech, interception operations over the United Arab Emirates continued, and a siren alarm rang out in Bahrain.
