Hesse Economy Minister Stands Firm Against Tax-Free One Thousand Euro Bonus

Hessian Minister of Economic Affairs, Kaweh Mansoori (SPD), defended the planned tax-free €1,000 bonus following a rejection by the Federal Council. Speaking to the “Tagesspiegel” (Saturday edition), Mansoori emphasized that he does not view the bonus as a universal solution, noting that it has met significant criticism from the business sector. Instead, he stressed that the proposal must undergo further revisions and negotiations.

Mansoori also addressed the political dimension, stating that his party’s cooperation with the federal government does not imply automatic agreement on every federal policy. According to him, voicing dissent on matters is a standard part of federal democracy, a process supported by established institutions, such as the mediation committee.

He concluded by urging officials to focus on the fundamental issue of tax relief. Mansoori asserted that the focus must shift toward holding the entities responsible for the problem accountable, specifically naming the mineral oil conglomerates.
