Hardt Supports US Airstrike on Iran Nuclear Facilities

Jürgen Hardt, the foreign‑policy spokesperson for the CDU’s Union faction, says the United States should launch another air strike on Iranian nuclear sites. He noted that the attacks carried out earlier this summer were justified because Iran had been pushing beyond all limits on its path toward acquiring a nuclear weapon. Hardt now believes such strikes remain likely and considers limited attacks on the programme a viable option.

At the same time, he warned that an American offensive carries significant risk. Numerous U.S. bases in the Middle East could become targets for Iranian retaliation, and it is uncertain whether air strikes alone would topple the Iranian regime. Hardt contrasted Trump’s earlier calls for regime change with his current focus on preventing Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon. He pointed out that while this goal aligns with the U.S. mission, it falls short of the broader promises Trump made to the people of Iran.
