In Magdeburg, Hannover had the better start. Just before half‑time, in the 38th minute, Daisuke Yokota headed in a quick‑fire shot from close range to make it 1-0. After the break the visitors came out more determined, and they levelled in the 53rd minute when Baris Atik curled a 20‑metre strike into the right corner, building on work by Dariusz Stalmach. Three minutes later Enzo Leopold restored the lead with a flat 2‑goal from 16 m after a double pass with Elias Saad.
