On matchday 19 of the 2. Bundesliga, Hannover 96 defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-1.
Daisuke Yokota opened the scoring in the fourth minute, converting a double‑pass from Kolja Oudenne inside the penalty area and slotting it into the lower‑right corner. Shortly after halftime, Benjamin Källman doubled the lead when a pass from Elias Saad caused confusion in the Düsseldorf defence, enabling him to fire a second goal past the opposition.
Düsseldorf did not give up, however. In the 49th minute, Elias Eguílou cut the deficit to 2-1 by heading home a free‑kick cross from Christian Rasmussen. The match featured a flurry of yellow cards and intense tackles. A few minutes later, in the 58th minute, Eguílou was shown a yellow‑red, further limiting the visitors’ chances. Despite being a man down, the Düsseldorf side fought on but could not find the equaliser. In the closing minutes, Hannover had opportunities to extend their lead, but the defense and goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier held firm to preserve the 2-1 victory.
Beyond the game in Hannover, other fixtures added excitement. Karlsruher SC and Hertha BSC ended in a 2-2 draw in a tense contest. A dead‑heat also settled the match between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Eintracht Braunschweig, although both teams produced chances for a win. Fürth’s game was disrupted by an early red card to Maximilian Dietz, which hampered their ability to control the match.
