Franziska Brantner, chairperson of the Green Party, has called on the federal government to present draft points for a reform of the Building Energy Act before the end of the month-just ahead of the state elections in Rhineland‑Palatinate and Baden‑Württemberg.
“I expect Schwarz‑Rot to deliver their key points by the next Bundestag session” Brantner told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland. She said the entire construction sector is “deeply unsettled” and that countless craft businesses have been waiting almost a year for clarity on the legal framework and funding.
Municipalities need a clear signal on how the municipal heat‑planning mandate will proceed. Brantner accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) of a protracted “campaign against German‑made technologies” and of advocating the repeal of the law together with CSU leader Markus Söder and CDU Secretary‑General Carsten Linnemann. She warned that it is unacceptable that there is now no plan in the cabinet to implement such a repeal.
The coalition had promised draft points for the energy‑reform by the end of January, a deadline that has already passed. The state elections are scheduled for 8 March in Baden‑Württemberg and 22 March in Rhineland‑Palatinate.
