Kassem Taher Saleh, the green spokesman for the Bundestag floor, is pressing the federal government to present the bullet points for a reform of the Building Energy Act without further delay. “It is politically irresponsible that nine months after the announcement of a reform no concrete framework points have yet been issued, and this generates massive uncertainty” he told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”.
He warned that households and firms have no clear idea of what to expect. “The industry has already shifted to renewable heat and is suffering noticeably from this political back‑and‑forth. This continued uncertainty endangers jobs and weakens a future‑market that Germany urgently needs to strengthen” he added. “It seems that the coalition is struggling to find a unified line despite the high pressure to act”. Saleh called for a swift consensus that guarantees planning security.
The heat‑policy spokesperson of the left‑wing group, Violetta Bock, also voiced criticism. “The CDU is stuck in announcement mode and is not recognising that a complete repeal is out of touch with reality” she told the RND. “Instead of devising tricks to delay ecological progress, they should pursue socially responsible measures”. Bock urged the federal government to expand socially tiered incentive programmes and, crucially, to establish a legally secure safeguard for renters against exploding heating costs.
