Speaking during the visit of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and at the start of German-Ukrainian government consultations in Berlin, Vice President of the Bundestag Omid Nouripour (Greens) stressed the need for increased German support for Ukraine. Speaking to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” Nouripour warned that the atrocious war waged by Putin against Ukraine risks being overlooked. He emphasized that the regular continuation of German-Ukrainian government consultations is therefore critically important.
Nouripour further stated that the stability of peace in Europe is inextricably linked to Ukraine’s future. Consequently, he urged the federal government to present concrete proposals detailing how allies can strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, deepen the exchange of data and technology, and accelerate the development of drone systems in order to press the Kremlin toward a peaceful resolution.
Furthermore, according to Nouripour, it is necessary to systematically undermine Russia’s war funding, particularly concerning revenue generated by the Russian “shadow fleet”. Speaking to RND, he cautioned, “If Putin wins this war, Europe’s peace order will be destroyed” adding that Germany must do everything possible to ensure the survival of European freedom.
