Reports indicate that exploratory talks between the Green Party and the CDU in Baden-Württemberg have achieved a breakthrough. According to the Südwestrundfunk, citing sources within the respective parties, Green top candidate Cem Özdemir and CDU state leader Manuel Hagel reportedly reached a compromise on Tuesday night, suggesting that formal coalition negotiations will commence shortly. The Greens had narrowly defeated the CDU in the state election in the southwest earlier this year, a win that is expected to place Özdemir in the role of Minister-President. However, given that both parties hold an identical number of seats in the state parliament, the coalition negotiations are anticipated to present continued challenges despite this initial advance.
