The police reported on Thursday that a body was found among the rubble following the collapse of an apartment building in Görlitz. The victim has been identified as the 25-year-old missing Romanian woman.
Rescue workers discovered the woman’s body late Wednesday evening, around 10:30 PM, after a search dog was utilized. A paramedic confirmed that the deceased had passed away. Following the discovery, fire department personnel cleared the rubble around the individual to allow for the recovery process.
While the body was being recovered, search operations continued in various sections of the collapsed building, allowing work to eventually resume fully. Authorities noted that investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.
The building initially collapsed on Monday afternoon for reasons that have not yet been determined. Authorities continue to classify two individuals as missing: a 26-year-old Romanian woman and a 48-year-old man who holds both Bulgarian and German citizenship.
