Gordon Schnieder Optimistic as He Enters Final Push for Rhineland‑Palatinate Election

The leading candidate of the CDU for the Rhineland-Palatinate state election, Gordon Schnieder, is heading into the final phase of the campaign with optimism. He told the “Rheinische Post” that the SPD’s performance in Baden‑Württemberg starkly illustrates how far the party has drifted from many workers and key workers. “The same pattern is emerging here in Rhineland‑Palatinate” he added.

Schnieder said the Union offers superior plans for education, health, the economy and security. He continues to remain “highly optimistic” as the campaign enters its last stage, up to the poll day on 22 March.

He noted that the Baden‑Württemberg results also demonstrate that “every vote counts in the end”. Accordingly, the CDU will camp “clearly for both votes for the CDU”. Twelve days before the state election, Schnieder and SPD State Minister‑President Alexander Schweitzer are scheduled to face each other in a televised debate on Tuesday evening.
