The partnership between T-Systems and Google Cloud, which focused on sovereign cloud solutions, appears to be undergoing a reorganization. According to reports citing company sources, Google is reportedly engaged in talks with potential new partners concerning a sovereign offering within Germany. Two insiders added that a company from France is a leading candidate, and these negotiations are supposedly quite advanced.
A spokesperson for Deutsche Telekom stated to the newspaper that they are continuously developing their services to meet evolving customer demands. They affirmed that all existing contracts and ongoing customer solutions will continue to receive support. When approached for comment, Google declined to comment on “rumors concerning specific business relationships”.
In the past, Telekom and Google announced their cooperative offering in 2021. The core mechanism of this agreement was an “Air-Gapped System”-a cloud infrastructure designed to meet the highest security requirements by being physically separated from the open internet. However, sources close to the situation claim that this specific Air-Gapped offering has never been sold to a paying customer. While the Telekom spokesperson mentioned that specific customer figures could not be disclosed due to confidentiality, the overall report suggests a potential shift in the established collaboration.
