The German Foreign Office has responded to reports claiming that China is secretly training Russian soldiers for the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking to the dpa news agency on Wednesday, a spokesperson confirmed that the ministry is aware of reports alleging that China has provided such training.
The office asserted that it views “very seriously” all reports concerning support for Russia’s attack war against Ukraine, as well as any actions by third countries that could bolster Russia’s position in the conflict. The spokesperson emphasized that Russia represents the greatest threat to Euro-Atlantic security.
Furthermore, the ministry warned that anything that enables Russia to continue its offensive in Ukraine constitutes a threat to European security and to Germany’s own safety. The spokesperson concluded by stating that China’s “crucial and growing support for Russia’s attack war” is, by definition, also a threat to Europe and Germany.
