Germany Italy France Agree on Stricter Migration Policies

Germany, Italy, and France reached an agreement during a meeting in Italy to adopt a stricter approach to migration. The interior ministers from the three nations decided on increased border control, faster deportations, and a clearer overall policy. German Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) stated on Saturday that Europe intends to reclaim control over migration through the EU Asylum Pact. The goal, he explained, is to halt illegal migration and disrupt the human smuggling trade by implementing firm agreements, maintaining a consistent policy, and ensuring controlled returns. Furthermore, the EU’s external borders are expected to be better secured, leading to a noticeable reduction in irregular migration. Additional measures, such as establishing “Return Hubs” and exerting more pressure on third countries, are set to ensure that deportations are carried out effectively. Efforts will also intensify against smugglers, targeting and dismantling criminal networks altogether.
