The foreign‑policy spokesperson of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Jürgen Hardt, has urged German authorities to increase vigilance because supporters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard may pose a threat on German soil. Hardt told RTL and ntv that “we have members of the Revolutionary Guard in Germany who could cause trouble” and added that security services “hope to keep these persons largely in view”. He warned that public and Jewish institutions are currently at risk and that “a special vigilance is needed in the coming days”.
Konstantin von Notz, the Greens’ deputy chair of the Parliamentary Control Panel for intelligence services (PKGr), also cautioned that Germany’s security situation could worsen after developments over the weekend. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, he said the already “extremely large security challenges” had become “noticeably increased” and stressed the importance of remaining alert. Von Notz told the newspaper that the government should take all necessary precautions to curb Iran’s intelligence activities in Germany, safeguard the security of all residents-whether exiled Iranians, German soldiers, or people of Jewish faith-and maintain close coordination with international partners.
He praised the heightened protection for Jewish institutions, while noting that defenses for Bundeswehr personnel, barracks, and properties must adapt to new threat scenarios. Von Notz emphasized that Germany must continue to do everything possible to shield its citizens from “the agents of the Mullah regime” describing the Iranian regime as currently “unpredictable”.
