Heidi Reichinnek, the leader of the Left Party’s parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, is urging the federal government to establish legal and safe escape routes for refugees fleeing Iran. “After decades of suffering under a brutal regime, the massive bombardment by the United States and Israel now puts the civilian population in grave danger” she told “Der Spiegel”. Reichinnek added that neighboring countries are not safe either. “We need secure routes to Europe. We cannot abandon the people in Iran and its neighboring countries in this situation” the Left politician emphasized. “Those who rightly demand solidarity with Iranians must also act accordingly”.
