The German Federal Minister of Finance, Lars Klingbeil (SPD), has invited leaders from the German economy and labor unions to a summit meeting due to the energy price crisis. According to “Der Spiegel” representatives from labor unions and business associations are scheduled to gather at the Ministry of Finance on Friday for a “social partners meeting concerning the economic and fiscal impacts of the Iran War”. Attendees invited included, not only the chairmen and deputies of major unions such as IG Metall and IGBCE, but also the presidents and CEOs of the employer and business associations BDI and BDA. This meeting is a direct response to ever-rising energy prices. Discussions at the Ministry of Finance are expected to focus on how both citizens and the economy can be relieved from the pressure of high fuel prices. Furthermore, the reform package currently being developed by the coalition government is also anticipated to be a topic of discussion.
