German Grid Agency Predicts Rising Gas Prices Amid Iran Conflict and Global Market Pressure

According to Klaus Müller, chief of the Bundesnetzagentur, a conflict in Iran is likely to push German gas prices higher. He told the Funke Media Group newspapers on a Wednesday that price effects on world markets would probably be felt in Germany, depending on how long the conflict lasts. Müller added that most households in Germany have long‑term contracts that provide price guarantees.

He does not expect supply shortages, noting that gas from the Persian Gulf plays only a modest role in German supply and that Germany’s gas supply is presently secure.
