German Government Informed Ahead Of Military Strike On Iran

The German federal government said it had been alerted in advance about the recent Israeli military attacks on Iran. Spokesperson Stefan Kornelius relayed this information on Saturday, noting that officials were closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with European partners. Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) had already consulted security‑related ministers and intends to hold further discussions later that day, Kornelius added.

The Foreign Office reported that it is carefully following events in Iran, Israel and the wider region, maintaining constant contact with embassies in Iran and Israel as well as other diplomatic missions nearby. The federal crisis team will convene at the Foreign Office at 12 p.m. on Saturday.

German citizens currently in Iran, Israel and the surrounding area are urged to register on the ELEFAND list and to heed instructions from local authorities. Travel and security advisories will be updated continuously, the Foreign Office said.

Meanwhile, Iran appears to be carrying out its retaliation. In addition to rocket and drone strikes on Israel, a U.S. military facility in Bahrain was reportedly attacked. According to Iranian sources, a U.S. Navy logistics center in the Gulf state was hit by rockets.
