German Government Grants 65 Arms Export Approvals to Israel in a Single Month, Sudden Surge After November Resumption

After the re‑authorization of arms exports to Israel at the end of November, the volume of shipments increased sharply. In a single month, the German government granted 65 individual export approvals for “other armaments” to Israel. This data comes from the federal response to a parliamentary question filed by the Left party, which the POLITICO industry‑and‑trade newsletter reported.

The response covers the period from 24 November to 23 December 2025. During that month no approvals were issued for the final export of “war weapons” while 65 approvals were issued for the export of other military goods. War weapons are defined by the German list to include missiles, rockets, combat tanks, warships and submarines. “Other armaments” encompass firearms, ammunition and dual‑use items such as electronics that can be used for military purposes.

Despite a pause in exports that lasted from 8 August to 23 November of the previous year-implemented because of Israel’s military offensive and the humanitarian situation in Gaza-other armaments continued to be exported. According to the government’s reply, 26 exports received approval between 22 September and 23 November, and 37 approvals were granted from 1 April to 30 July.

Over a two‑year span from October 2023 to December 2025, Germany authorized armament exports worth a total of €606 million. State Secretary Thomas Steffen of the Ministry of Economy quoted the breakdown: €585 892 062 for other armaments and €20 142 449 for war weapons.
