Following reports from “Der Spiegel”, the federal government has, for the second time since the “Spiegel” published the information, deported a large group of male criminals from Afghanistan back to their homeland. The operation began after midnight when a charter flight departed from Leipzig, carrying approximately 25 Afghan men.
The aircraft is scheduled for a brief stop in Trabzon, Turkey, before flying directly to Kabul. There, the deportees are slated to be handed over to the Taliban by Tuesday morning. The federal police officers accompanying the men are expected to return to Germany on the same flight.
According to the reports, the individuals being deported are exclusively male criminals. A significant number were transported directly from detention facilities to Leipzig/Halle Airport. The men were incarcerated for a range of offenses, including theft, larceny, drug trafficking, group rape, manslaughter, kidnapping, extortion, and politically motivated crime.
Furthermore, “Spiegel” reports that these deportation candidates originate from various German federal states, including Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, and Thuringia.
