Due to the tense situation in the Middle East, many Germans are stranded in the United Arab Emirates.
Foreign Minister Johann Wadephül (CDU) said in the Monday edition of Bild that a military evacuation is not feasible because the airspace is fully closed.

Instead, the German government is focusing on informing and supporting its citizens from consular offices. “All embassies and foreign representations are open. We are working intensively to provide up-to‑date information” Wadephül added. The timing of when it will again be possible for affected residents to leave remains unclear.
