German Foreign Minister Claims State Murder of Nawalny After Poison Test

After police presented evidence of poisoning on the body of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) called the killing a “state‑ordered murder”. He told RTL/ntv on Saturday that Russia again displays its “horrible face”.

Wadephul highlighted Russia’s repeated violations of international law in Ukraine, pointing to the bombardment of civilians as evidence that the regime is willing to use every means available, showing no respect for morality or law. He added that revealing this fact two years after Navalny’s death is crucial, arguing that it will inevitably lead to further repercussions.

The minister said the case would be handed over to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and expects the organisation to take appropriate measures.

He stressed that the public must be informed and that calls for “Europe to finally speak with Russia” should not be neglected. While Europe is already ready to engage, the discussion must take into account the nature of the Russian regime.
