Bundesfamilienministerin Karin Prien (CDU) announced that the federal government will launch a nationwide awareness campaign highlighting the dangers and risks of social‑media use, coinciding with the upcoming age‑restriction measure. She said the campaign will mirror those that previously focused on alcohol and nicotine consumption.
Prien also indicated that the government is exploring ways to involve pediatricians more actively in the effort. By sensitising doctors in child‑health examinations, parents could receive warnings about the hazards of excessive social‑media use. She noted that she is currently in discussion with the Federal Ministry of Health about this approach.
