The first government evacuation flight from the Middle‑East crisis area landed in Frankfurt. A Lufthansa aircraft, which departed overnight from Oman’s capital Muscat, arrived in Germany on Thursday morning.
Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) had earlier announced that the evacuation flights would focus on the “vulnerable group” – elderly, sick, frail, pregnant individuals and children. Tourists who do not fall into this category are expected to wait longer. Initially, the exact number of passengers on the first evacuation flight was unclear.
