German Asylum Applications by Russians Fall to Record Low 3,640 in 2025

By the end of 2025, nearly 286,000 people with Russian citizenship were residing in Germany. About half hold unrestricted residency, while roughly 92,000 are on temporary stays. Eleven thousand five hundred are formally required to leave, though 10,700 of them have been granted temporary stays (Duldung). From January to the end of October 2025, 111 individuals were returned to Russia, with repatriations conducted via the transit states of Georgia, Serbia, and Morocco.
