Gasoline Prices Keep Rising While Diesel Slightly Cheaper for Truck Drivers

Fuel prices for gasoline drivers have edged up again compared with last week, while diesel buyers are currently enjoying slightly lower prices at the pump. According to the ADAC’s latest fuel‑price analysis, the average nationwide price for a litre of Super E10 is €1.754, up 0.6 cents from the previous week. Diesel has fallen 0.5 cents to €1.716 per litre.

The ADAC noted that Brent crude oil has risen by about two US dollars compared with last week, trading just above $69 a barrel. The euro has strengthened slightly against the dollar, now standing at roughly $1.19 per euro. This currency shift has helped cushion some of the negative impacts of higher crude costs.

The association views positively that the spread between gasoline and diesel prices has again widened a bit, even though it remains far from a fair relationship. With a litre of diesel, about 20 cents less excise tax is paid than on gasoline. However, diesel actually costs only 3.8 cents less than Super E10. The ADAC therefore sees further potential for diesel prices to decline.
